REGION 36 HAS ARRIVED!By Juanita Ramirez - Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of San Bernardino CountyIn the words of Bette Davis, "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride". It will also be exciting! Yes, Region 36 has a new face for the 2005 Libertarian Party Convention.
Our Chairman, Rick Nichol, has worked tirelessly to outreach to new members and old to spark some new energy and ideas into our region. He has been very successful. We now have dedicated people working in our region on every aspect it takes to build the largest geographical county into the shining light it should be. Our Vice-Chair, Juanita Ramirez, is dreaming up and proceeding with ideas about outreach on a daily basis and will have many to share at the regional meetings and the convention as well. She/I will keep the epiphany I had the other night to myself until then. Somehow, I knew that once juggling pennies was off my back, I would have the inspiration I need to do the things my office requires. Our new Treasurer, Laura Lee, has everything we need in terms of financial acumen and ideas for fundraising activities for our meager bank. The only thing we need for her is a stone to hold her feet to the ground. I support every idea she has presented thus far. Our new Secretary, Arthur Hicken, is also working on a web-site for our region that will have a real presence. Along with the aid of Matt Barnes, another new member, we are planning to give Region 36, the Libertarian Party of San Bernardino County, a completely new face. We are planning to attract more interest and involvement in the Libertarian Party than any other region has to date. Our new At-Large member, Dave Suiter, is working on a news-media plan involving getting our members to respond to as many local newspapers as possible through "letters to the editor" and "opinion articles". He is willing to help with editing, direction to outlets, and writing of ideas. He is very experienced in this area, as he writes regularly himself. Our staid member, Dave Hollist, continues to be our data-base manager and our feet on the ground. He gets those postcards out to the membership each month to remind you of the meeting and let you know what we are doing
